Hairy Busy Day

The puns just get worse don't they? This is just a little post (and that's TIM MALONEY demonstrating "little") to remind you to vote on your favorite wig over to the right (scroll down, you'll find it). It's an interesting poll, and I have to admit I've been surprised on several counts. Tomorrow (Monday, February 23) is our busy pre-chemo day so we'll be stopping by the Cancer Care Center and picking out my free wig at 2pm. Then it's chemo boot-camp, then blood tests, then therapy, then liquid therapy, then I'm sure we'll be stopping by the pharmacy to load up on not-so-free but totally legal drugs. Now, if that doesn't say "Romantic winter day" I don't know what does.

Seamus will be with Shawna D. and Destiny again tomorrow, which works out well since he's still a little miffed that I haven't written about his whole cancer experience which, he assures you, is way more interesting than mine (but I assure you I had way less of a sense of humor about his!). I'm thinking I'm going to have lots of time on my hands after chemo Thursday. Now, whether or not I can sit at the computer for any portion of that remains to be seen. If the b

log at the end of the week seems a little disjointed, or angry, or contains a lot of vulgarity or swearing...you'll just know that Seamus took over. He can be like that.

I love your dog...almost as much as I love my dog...and I haven't even met him in person yet. Or in canine...How do you classify that?

Um, so I'm looking, yet again, at your wig selections on the right. Is it just me, or do a couple of those longer blonde wigs look just a tad like Barbie hair? Honestly, right off the head of a Barbie doll? A bit sparkly and shiny? That long blonde curly one and the the Dolly blonde. I'm assuming those are the "synthetic" jobs. I can only imagine those combing out in the morning like I remember Barbie hair combing out. Not very well, and coming out in strands from trying to style it. How fun...and I am sorry if you have chosen one as your "do". Yell at me later. I'm still studying your choices, although I have already placed my vote...

Why The Title

I hate and refuse to read/ watch/ acknowledge any story involving a dog--because I love dogs and the dog in a movie/ book/ whatever always dies. I can't handle that.

When I found out I had cancer I said to Chris (writer, significant other; in case there is a soul reading this who doesn't know that) "If I die, given that Seamus lived, you have to write the memoir "The Dog Lived." I love the irony. Seamus (our beagle) was diagnosed with cancer more than 3 years ago and was told (okay, right, I was told; Seamus still doesn't know) that he would live maybe a year. Instead he's cancer-free and well into remission. That would be the great irony of my life story--the dog lives. I don't.

Not surprisingly, Chris was not amused and did not want to write that memoir. Oh, and my prognosis is not at all that grim. So instead, in a rare mood I'm attempting to just put a positive spin on things. The Dog Lived...and so will I.

For Those of You Over the age of 35

It seems we've learned the age cut-off for understanding how a blog works (i.e. Chris or younger = you get it). So here's a few hints:

1) if you are new to the blog you actually start at the bottom (scroll down) for the first entry and then work your way up.

2) if you want to leave a comment, click on the "# comments" phrase (it will actually say 0 or 1 or 6 ...an actual number) at the end of each post (okay, "article" if the word "post" was too bloggy for you). A window will open with the other comments and a box where you can type in your comment. You don't have to have an account. Just fill in the "Name/URL" with how you want to identify yourself and then click on the "Publish Post" button.

3) comments are how I know you care. ;-)
